We recently moved my MIL into our home (that's a whole other story) and it turns out she has zero boundaries and probably the onset of dementia. After one too many times of walking right into our bedroom my wife and I decided to add a keyless lock.I had previously installed one very similar to this in a home office and this one was just as easy to install. It does require drilling a hole in your door, so if you remove the lock you're going to have that extra 10mm hole. Note that in different places the manufacturer says both that the hole is required and the hole is optional but without the hole it's impossible to get the hardware snug enough on the door to prevent the entire unit from moving side-to-side during normal operation.Everything fit as expected and programming was fairly simple. This unit uses audible voice prompts from the lock to walk you through the programming steps which is far more effective than the "beep codes" some locks use. In daily use the talking lock is annoying but the voice can be turned off. There are two minor issues that I don't like. First, the system requires a minimum 6-digit code (maybe exactly 6 digits?). That's probably a best practice from a security standpoint but punching 7 keys (6 plus the # key) every time I open my bedroom door is a nuisance. For my application a 4 or even 2 digit code would be fine, but that's not an option. The second issue is that we couldn't get the fobs to work. The system recognized the fobs but we weren't able to get the lock programmed to accept the fob as a valid code to open the door. Also, the manual was less than helpful when it came to the fobs. I didn't even notice when I ordered that it had a fob option so this isn't a show-stopper for me.Overall, for the price, ease of installation, ease of programming, and trouble-free (so far) operation, I'm happy to give this a 5-star rating.
