Civivi knives are going with the trend of making quality knives overseas. Their production is good, and the quality of the knives is ranked up there. The price(s) keep the knife in an affordable range with the notion that when needed it will do its job, just fine. Some would call this a cheap knock-off, and it very well may be, but this is not cheaply made, and it has its own uniqueness. The knife is mediocre in size but that does not affect the purpose of having it in one's inventory. The blade's material is D2. This makes the knife a good option for most kitchen knives as the material has good hardness and edge retention. It will be a little challenging to sharpen and it is recommended to use good sharpening techniques when applying an edge. If made correctly, the ratio of steel to chromium will make the knife semi-stainless. Meaning without good care, it can and will show signs of rust. But nothing a coat of oil won't take care of. The sheath has multiple functions and can be set up according to what you want. One caution? Although mine was green micarta, the choice of color could have been better. But since I didn't purchase the knife for its look, I am not disappointed having this knife around. Good design, good size and shape.
