Product Description

Will this fit on all motorcycles? No, but it fits on the motorcycles listed on our Fitment Chart (found under User Guide PDF) as long as your throttle has 3 mm of space between the throttle housing and grip flange. Some motorcycles on our Fitment Chart may need the rubber grip flange pulled back to achieve the necessary 3 mm of space for the ATLAS Throttle Lock. I have a question and need to talk to ATLAS Moto's Technical Support. Can I do that here? Yes! Follow these steps: Go to the “Looking for specific info?” section at the bottom of this product page.Ask your question to the AI bot, which is not ATLAS Moto technical support, but you’re getting close…Below that text box where you wrote your question, you will read “Don't see the answer you're looking for?” Now, click the button that says “Post your question” and the question will be sent to ATLAS Moto technical support. What’s the difference between a throttle lock and traditional cruise control? A throttle lock holds your throttle position using friction but not always your speed, whereas traditional cruise control maintains a constant speed but doesn't hold your throttle position. This sounds a bit confusing, so we will explain. The ATLAS Throttle Lock uses a friction pad to apply pressure against your throttle housing when the engagement button is pressed in. Think of a brake pad (friction pad) pressing against a brake rotor (throttle housing). This friction is what holds your throttle position. If you are on a flat, straight road, the ATLAS Throttle Lock will also maintain your exact speed. This will continue until you approach a hill, at which point you will need to adjust your throttle manually. You can either leave the unit engaged and rotate the throttle with the added friction, or disengage the unit and return to your factory throttle response. Why are motorcyclists adding the ATLAS Throttle Lock to their throttles? The ATLAS Throttle Lock allows riders to relax their grip, shake out their hands, adjust their gear, and log more miles without the threat of dreaded arm pump. Additionally, it significantly reduces nerve pain in your hand, as you no longer need to maintain a tense grip constantly on the throttle. Cruise control is only good for long, boring straight roads. It’s flat out frustrating in group rides, in the flow of traffic or on any of the scenic roads motorcyclist enjoy. Before leaving on an around the world trip, I purchased a throttle lock. On the road, I broke my right wrist. I rode for months before I could get proper surgery. During that time, all the shortcomings of that throttle lock were magnified. I researched all the available throttle locks on the market and I was disappointed with the lack of function. After riding through 28 countries with vastly different climates and terrain, I knew exactly what I needed in a throttle lock. - David Winters What makes the ATLAS Throttle Lock so great? We made the ATLAS for YOU, not just your motorcycle. Here are a few key differences that truly set the ATLAS apart from anything else on the market: Smooth Riding Experience: The ATLAS engages and disengages without any change in speed. Other designs force you to decelerate when disengaging their units. No more lurching on the freeway. Ergonomic and Intuitive: Using non-dominant fingers, twisting or reaching to set a throttle lock is dangerous for obvious reasons. The ATLAS is activated with your thumb and is always within reach. The ATLAS Doesn't Require Grip Space: Other designs demand a portion of your grip. The ATLAS simply mounts to the throttle tube between the grip and the throttle housing, leaving you with a full grip. Bolts on within 10 minutes: During installation, there's no need to remove grips, handguards, heated grips, bar end mirrors... the ATLAS works perfectly with them all. Should I buy the Bottom Kit or the Top Kit for my motorcycle? First, is there enough room for the ATLAS? All you need is a gap of 3mm or greater between the grip and the throttle housing. That's roughly 3 bank cards thick.Nearly every motorcycle has a throttle tube and a throttle housing. The ATLAS mounts to the throttle tube, which allows the ATLAS to rotate with your throttle, and most importantly your thumb. Once the ATLAS is engaged, a friction pad on a stopper arm hinges out from the ATLAS and presses against side of the throttle housing. That friction pad is what holds the ATLAS in place. You'll want the Bottom Kit... If there’s a heated grip wire that comes out the top half of the rubber grip flange. If you have more than 1.5 inches (38mm) of clearance between the inner plastic throttle tube (under the rubber grip) and the gas tank at a full right turn.If there's a bulge, bracket or object sticking out of the top half of the throttle housing that would interfere with the body of the ATLAS.If there's no other interferences, then it's a personal preference. You'll want the Top Kit... If there’s a heated grip wire that comes out the bottom half of the rubber grip flange. If you have less than 1.5 inches (38mm) of clearance between the inner plastic throttle tube (under the rubber grip) and the gas tank at a full right turn.If there's a bulge, bracket or object sticking out of the bottom half of the throttle housing that would interfere with the body of the ATLAS.If there's no other interferences, then it's a personal preference. Tell me more about the Friction Pads. The ATLAS Throttle Lock was designed to be used with friction pads. Friction pads can last 60,000 miles or more as long as you choose the right pad for your bike. The friction pads come in 4 different thicknesses. You will only need to apply one pad to your ATLAS. Watch our installation videos and follow the instructions to determine which friction pad works best. ****** - Verified Buyer

I have considered buying this for years after hearing how great it is from other riders but I always perceived the cost as too high and tried less expensive alternatives that I never liked. This is the one. It is well made and should last over the course of multiple bikes being easy to remove and install on a new bike. The function is perfect, just hit the button and it locks the throttle. It works by pressing up against the throttle housing and has enough hood to feel secure but you are always able to move the throttle manually just with a little more force. Safety is a big concern for me and this is a well thought out solution. It works very well on my 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700. I wish I had bought this instead of the other cheaper locks I tried first.
